Edinburgh, 17th December, 2025: Foresight Group (“Foresight”) a leading regional private equity and real assets investment manager, has announced an investment into Welding Engineers, a company specialising in the service, repair, maintenance, fabrication and installation of all types of industrial doors and shutters.

Industrial doors play a critical role in commercial and industrial environments, designed to withstand heavy use and harsh conditions. They are essential across a range of sectors including manufacturing, logistics and automotive; where health and safety regulations mandates regular servicing, which is a highly specialist skillset.

Since the Company was founded in Glasgow in the 1960s, this family business has grown to become a leading provider of industrial door services. Welding Engineers employs 180 people across six regional branches throughout the UK, providing a national footprint and enabling the company to be close to its customers and employ skilled, local engineers.

Tod Harrison and Derek Smith have joined the company as Non-Executive Chair and Non-Executive Director respectively, and bring extensive facilities management and engineering services experience. Foresight has a strong track record of supporting business growth, and this investment will help Welding Engineers to capitalise on growth opportunities, including strategic acquisitions in a fragmented market.

Harry Staples, Investment Manager at Foresight Group, said: “Welding Engineers has grown impressively in recent years and has built a well-deserved reputation for expertise, reliability and quality. We look forward to supporting the company in its next phase of growth and see opportunities for consolidation in what is a fragmented market.”

Tod Harrison, Non-Executive Chair, commented: “We have ambitious growth plans for Welding Engineers, building on its exceptional reputation in the industry. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the Company and supporting Welding Engineers on the next phase of its journey.”

To date, Foresight has invested over £60 million into growing companies in Scotland across all sectors and transaction types, which has created over 170 local high quality jobs. Our recent investments include Mclaggan + Co, Graham + Sibbald, MyWay Digital Health and uFraction8.
